Volunteering & Service

Since its inception, LND/SMC/HCC has always been committed to supporting women and charities in our local community. Over the course of 80 years, our organization has promoted activities centered on creating and sustaining a community that welcomes newcomers, supports women and children, and cares for those less fortunate.

True to that spirit, we encourage volunteerism and social responsibility. In the past, we have partnered with local charities like St. Margaret’s House, a women and children drop-in day center, where our members have volunteered time and baked birthday cakes for guests. We have also worked closely with University of Notre Dame students in assisting Arab refugee children to read and write in English in an after-school program, and helping refugee families get settled in our area. In addition, the Ladies also support campus fundraisers, such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, which is held annually on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.

Our signature program is the Scholarship Fund, established in the 1990s.
