The Ladies of Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s College have always been committed to supporting women and charities in our local community. Each year, the Ladies grants scholarships to deserving local women enrolled at Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s.

Over the course of 80 years, the Ladies has been a social and cultural organization whose activities are centered on creating and sustaining a community that welcomes newcomers.  True to that spirit, LND/SMC supports volunteerism and social responsibility. Its focus has been on women and children. During the 1990’s, it established a scholarship fund supporting local women attending Notre Dame and/or Saint Mary’s College.  Each month birthday cakes are baked for guests of St. Margaret’s House, a women and children drop-in day center.  Members of the Ladies and other community women provide this service.  Members work closely with Notre Dame students assisting Arab refugee children to read and write in English in an after-school program. It has also provided information on service groups where members can volunteer. In addition, the Ladies also support campus fundraisers, such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, which is held annually on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Other service projects are in the planning stages and will be announced on the website and in our newsletter.
